Are You Experiencing Wrist Pain?

Wrist pain can present in a number of different ways and range from a nagging weakness to searing pain. Because the wrist is made up of a complex network of bones, tendons, muscles, and nerves, injuries in this area are often equally complicated. Not only is the wrist needed for a full range of motion but without proper function, you may notice an additional strain on the hand, fingers, arm, elbow, and spine as well.

In addition to chronic pain, some of the most common symptoms associated with a wrist injury include:

  • Trouble moving the wrist
  • Swelling
  • Burning or stinging
  • Stiffness or numbness
  • Tingling
  • Tiredness or weakness

What Are the Causes of Wrist Pain?

Wrist pain can be caused by a number of different factors and other types of injuries. Often, wrist pain is the result of normal wear and tear or overuse. Early diagnosis is ideal for proper treatment and can help your body to heal more quickly than if you are experiencing a more advanced injury. While each patient is different, some of the most common causes of wrist pain include:

  • Pinched Nerve
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Wrist Strain or Sprain
  • Traumatic Injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Sports or Auto Accident Injuries
  • And More

Chiropractic Care for Wrist Pain

Through the use of both manual and instrument-based chiropractic adjustments, our Tracy chiropractor can provide almost instant pain relief and promote faster healing by reducing inflammation and encouraging the natural production of healthy nutrients in the body. In addition to regular chiropractic manipulation, we may also recommend that you complete a few simple at-home exercises to improve the strength of your wrist and promote faster healing.

Wrist Stretch

From a seated position, begin by placing one arm out in front of the body with elbows locked. Fingers should face up towards the ceiling with palms out in front of you. With the opposite hand, reach up and gently pull the fingers back towards the body until you feel a strong stretch in the forearm. Hold for 15 seconds, repeating 3 times on each arm.

Wrist Exercise

Again from a seated position, make a circle with your band and step into the circle with one foot. Place your arm on top of your thigh and bring the wrist up towards the ceiling, then down again. Repeat 25 times, for a total of 3 sessions on each arm.
